Transition your Summer wardrobe to Fall

You know Fall is just around the corner when your leaving work and the sun is setting a little earlier and the mornings you have to grab an extra sweater to cut the chill! It is time to start thinking about transitioning your wardrobe.

Don't get ruthless and start tossing your tanks and summer dresses, but make a plan. Start pulling the pieces you just did not wear this summer and fold them nicely into a donation pile. If you don't wear it this summer you probably wont next summer, so do your self a favor and get it out now! Once you got your donate pile go trough it and if there are pieces that are gently worn or still in style move them into a sell pile. You would be amazed what 2nd hand stores like crossroads or buffalo exchange will take, especially when you hit them when a season starts! So save those for next Spring and get there early when they are desperate for tanks and summer dresses, you just might make some early summer spending money!

Now that you have thinned out your summer unwanted clothes and it is time to start looking at items that will work well with your new Fall wardrobe. Start with neutrals like black, white and tan, those colors are classics that will go with any season. Then work your way into silhouettes, tunics are great because you can throw them over leggings, layer them up with sweaters then throw on a great boot and your set! Dresses need to be Fall appropriate so pull any bright floral or pastels. Shorts and mini skirts can be layered up for fall so only keep darker colors and neutrals. Jeans can also transition, hang on to those boyfriend jeans because they will be useful with ankle boots!

Now that you have sorted the transition clothes you can now place the summer items that have not been selected and move them towards the back of your wardrobe. Another great idea is to neatly place them in a vacuum sealed container that you can slide under your bed or put away in storage without getting damaged. A helpful hint throw in a fabric softener to keep the clothes smelling fresh!

Some key trends to pay attention to this Fall is, Antique washed tops and Ombre fabrics, it is all about the worn in grunge look. The "I stole by befriends clothes" look with oversize sweater, jackets and pants is a key look for Fall. A few trends for shoes are lace-up boots and the heavy doc martin look with platforms and chunky heals.
